Today, Toronto Hip Hop duo comprised of voclist Arowbe & producer Alexander The release their ‘Vehicle’ LP together as Times Neue Roman. The album features a slew of Toronto affiliates and friends. All ten tracks collectively may be best described as a modern equivalent of the 90’s nostalgia that so many music heads seek. On a scandalous side note Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has become an internet sensation as of late. A Canadian one at least. It turns out doing Crack Cocaine while in public office is a big time NO NO. Times Neue Roman, Toronto Rap duo were early in calling this politicians dirtiness in with their ‘Late Night Toronto’ .
Statement from Arowbe aka Rob Bolton of Times Neue Roman:
“We shot the video in Summer of 2012 and put it out about one year ago. We had created these four masks, each of them with Mayor Ford making a different facial expression.The concept of the video was just to use these masks of our mayor as a vehicle to explore Toronto after hours life. We passed them around to people at several parties and just documented their actions.The video became this weird narrative of a night on the town, where indeed our character partakes in some illegal narcotics and other activities while in his “drunken stupor.” At the time, we thought we were sort of taking the piss in a pretty light-hearted way. And then this very troubling scandal started to unfold that the video was very predictive of.”
