YP is a relatively new name in my rap game dictionary. Hot New Hip hop has been up on him for a while now (no surprise) though.
First heard and watched Who I Be (Clap) earlier this year. Spring or something like that. Remembering back to that time he seemed to be one of the more legit sounding dude’s emerging. That thought and lyrics supported further by the more 90’s sounding beats he was over. Others had taken in a similar impression apparently.. Read up on this interview YP did with Hot New Hip Hop on the subject his meeting Nas and signing to Universal Republic HERE.
