Premiere: VYGR1 – This is What Happens

No doubt the many of us are just peeling ourselves off our pillows or floors after a star studded night of red carpet Grammy’s. The creme de la creme of celebrity status in the comfort of your own home, from the indent of your own couch. People just can’t control themselves. Pffft, the best thing abbot the event was the amount of breasts about to jump out made for a great night ;)

Kanye was there, but he unlike the rest had a current connection with the common folk in the news around him. His offering an entry level position to a random Joe who rapped for him on the street. That’s something people can relate to, a storey of an aspiring reaching a goal. Which brings me to the premiere of Denver”s own VYGR1’s latest in his Future Bass arsenal. A relatively new beginning for the artist already with steady footing in large hitting compositions FC is all about. Free download for the masses.

Kid Atlaas – Fragments

I’ve been posting a lot of beats out of France recently, and there’s a reason for that… French producers fucking slay. Here’s record label Cosmonostro on Fragments, “a look inside the musical mind of Kid Atlaas — one of Europe’s most promising up-and-coming beatsmiths”:

The scope of this record is outstanding, from piano chops that’ll pull at your heartstrings to subs that’ll expose your most disgusted screwface, interspersed with interludes you’ll want to last for days. Opening with the warm crackly tones of dusty wax, ‘Winter Is Coming’ sets a laidback & blunted mood that defines the Kid Atlaas sound. Otherworldly voices drift in and out throughout the EP, most notable on ‘We Shall Overcome’ with a certain famous speech by a certain civil rights figure demonstrating that conscious hip hop with its positive morality is far from dead. The epic closer ‘Make Love In Outer Space’ opens with blissed out synthwork, blasting off into the ruffest drum beat you’re likely to hear this side of the stratosphere before gently easing you back down to earth, bewildered and ready to go right back for more. This is one of those rare records that you’ll have on loop without it ever sounding stale, with each listen more rewarding than the last.

Kid Atlaas passed away last year, but he lives on through the people who continue to discover and appreciate the music that he left behind.

Teem – Proof Of You (Whaleskin Remix)

Tasty treat time from one who may have just been born in the wrong era. Dare this be called Disco revival? Or New Disco? Rather just Disco, pure 80’s influence fully capable of popping out a perm from one’s dome piece. Support for quality reasoning, plus Canadian artist reasoning. Also, help this bae chart!

ProleteR – Rookie EP

Electro-swing (or swing-hop) saw a huge rise in popularity over the course of 2014. Any fans of the jazzy emerging genre should get to know the name ProleteR (if they haven’t already). Hailing from Toulouse, France, this producer/beatmaker has this to say about his music:

“You can download, share and use all my stuff as background music for free as long as you keep it non-profit, and that you credit me with links to my pages. Thanks!”

You heard that right, friends – everything ProleteR puts out is free to download! Show your support of the artist – find him on Soundcloud, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Premiere: Kanye West – Only One feat. Paul McCartney (Volknor Remix)

The follow up to ‘Yeezus’ has been staved off by singles and production credits for nearly a year now. In a suprise drop this past December Ye released a personal song about his daughter North West. All keys, no drums, and the ever so tear jerking auto tune sangin’. Kim says it makes her cry every time she listens to it, which sounds like a lot :'( On the flip side of the fame pyramid Detroit based Ethan Garcia aka Volknor stripped it of much of the personal lyrics making a tad more workable into what is now, frankly, a future banger. Drums and heavy synth work bring it out of KKW’s cold dead eyes and into the earbuds of the populus. The only thing better in the original is how black Kanye says “smile” .

Just know before you get full blown judgemental that the selections original is nearly unrecognizable. Only when the lyrics are in play would anyone know it’s an actual NSYNC track.
