Patty Crash & Kronic – Pictures

Pop music with a deep and intriguing future bass vibe – there’s nothing much more I could ask for from an original tune in the EDM scene these days.

Self-proclaimed “Tinder game Arya Stark” aka Patty Crash hits a home run on these beautiful melodies, while Kronik & Mike Jerz are out in left field on this wild beat. Although Patty Crash has only a few jams to her name, I’ve got a feeling that this is only the first of many singles to come that will find their way into my daily playlists.

Elephante – Sirens (feat. Nevve)

Elephante and Nevve have teamed up to produce a chill-inducing energetic pop jam of an anthem. Nevve’s fresh lyricism and elegant voicings pair astonishingly well with this type of night-time thriller of a genre, I could hear it ending up in a soundtrack of some sort.

The skillfully recorded, cascading vocals eventually become swallowed up by the steady pulse of a progressive electro chorus similar to the likes of Porter Robinson, Madeon, etc. Huge tune, all around.

Matoma – Running Out W/ Astrid S (Proppa Remix)

Proppa is a promising young music writer who I respect for his wide variety of apparent influence which ranges from festival house vibes to experimental pop / future bass, etc. The way that he not only captures and utilizes but enhances the catchier aspects of each remix that he does is nothing short of impressive!

Here we have his newest effort, a remix of Matoma’s Running Out w/ Astrid. So catchy!

Enjoy:

Tinashe – Superlove (The Golden Pony Remix)

One of my favourite east coast producer duo’s are back with a brand new remix of Tinashe’s Superlove. These guys can do no wrong. In fact, it’s almost like they emanate summer vibes all year long.

This particular remix steps forward with a particular silky-smooth contrast between a lush set of plucked chords and Tinashe’s deep voice, hooking an ear-worm almost instantaneously.

Check out the track, I’m sure you’ll love it!

Mid-week grooves.

Coming at you with a new mid-week playlist with some of the most unique tunes that I’ve heard in a while, found mostly on HypeM but also Soundcloud (follow us)! A nice mix of chill and energetic, these tunes all kind of fall within that future-bass/weird bass music genre.

I have no doubt that you’ll be digging these tunes as well. Enjoy!

Khamsin – Once (Ft. Layna)

Izzard – Secret Garden (Ft. Merival)

HOUNDS – Myria

Buku – Front to Back

Ramzoid – Coconut

SHORTLIST 2.

Friday again; the weekend is finally upon us, and it also happens to be my birthday weekend. I’ve compiled a special list of tracks that have been frequently pouring out of my new Audio Technica m50x headphones.

Ranging from funky and hip-hop oriented, to fast-paced and shimmery, this playlist is a definitive roundup of this weeks best tracks, in my opinion (not all of them were released this week, but you get the idea).

Enjoy the rest of your summer and let’s keep the jams going.

Manis Focus – No Part of This

Andrew Luce & MYRNE – Rebound

Shallou – Doubt

Dillon Francis & NGHTMRE – Need You (Jupe Remix)

EDX – My Friend

Big Gigantic – All Of Me (Feat. Logic & Rozes)

Big Gigantic are basically what got me into the funk/electronic hybrid genre to begin with. Rocking a solid setup of saxophone, electronics and live drums, the duo have been dominating the North American festi scene and other cornerstone venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre for years now, carving their niche into a scene of blown out progressive house producers and the like.

Their unique and positive vibe is another aspect of the BG family that sets them apart. Boasting a large audience of community oriented music-lovers, the duo promote togetherness and enjoyment through live music and friendship. I find this very interesting as most electronic music scenes are very exclusive and almost alienating, in a way.

The new single features one of my favourite MC’s Logic. The title of the single is All of Me, and I highly recommend checking it out – slightly more of a chill vibe than their most recent releases, the new joint touches base on some RnB / HipHop vibes with bars-o-plenty, absolutely worth the 5-second click over to their Soundcloud page to check it out!

SHORTLIST | 1

The theme of this weeks shortlist is simple: DANCE. Funky and slow or energetic and fast, here are some tracks that I’ve been getting down to*.

*Getting down may or may not be me singing in the shower to random Spotify playlists…

These songs really caught my attention for a few reasons: 1. Recyclable – I’ve basically had most these songs on repeat for almost a week now. 2. Unique – I try to choose songs that don’t sound EXACTLY like every other song out there. 3. My Soundcloud feed is simply flooded with them, so it’s honestly hard to escape! In a good way.

Flamingosis – Make Me Late For Breakfast

The Funk Hunters & Chali 2na – WORD TO SPREAD feat. Tom Thum

Pegboard Nerds & NGHTMRE – Superstar Feat. Krewella (DNMO Remix)

The Chainsmokers – Closer Ft. Halsey (Gill Chang Remix)

Criminal feat. Los Rakas & Far East Movement (Navaz Remix)

And thus concludes today’s edition of the SHORTLIST! Follow FC on Facebook, Soundcloud and Twitter for frequent updates on what’s good.

It’s a bit of a rocky road of a playlist, with bangers and chillers, but I think you’ll dig. FAWNA, Skrillex, NGHTMRE and Jayceeoh are up at bat – check it out:

Don’t forget to check out the video for Reverie by clicking HERE. It’s amazing.

That concludes our quick mix for this week. Check back ASAP and we’ll continue to feed you the dankest of the dank.
