Pairanoid – Carry On (feat. ALEXANDRIA)

Here are some pretty words bitches. Just in case you didn’t know I can speak all fancy n shit. – Toronto-based production duo Pairanoid have released their latest track titled ‘Carry On’.  The track features the beautiful voice of Alexandria.  ‘Carry On’ is a melodic dance track thats easy to listen to.  It has a fantastic bass line, and an uplifting vibe that is supported by just the right amount of building and falling.

[FC Premiere] Sam Feldt – Hungry Eyes

Sam Feldt has been busy creating smooth sounds; sounds that raise emotions and sounds that bring energy to the table and suit many different moods and vibes.

I’m very pleased to announce that we’ve brought to you a first listen at Sam’s newest release, titled Hungry Eyes.

It’s crazy how such a DJ compatible artist can make such a beautiful radio-friendly tune that would fit just fine on som of the chill playlists that I’v been jamming recently.

Without further adieu – check out Hungry Eyes by Sam Feldt!

Gill Bondy – So Alive

Hayden Stewart, aka Gill Bondy of Toronto’s Bedroomer collective has been releasing pop melodies in the vein of inspirational heavyweights Washed Out, Ariel Pinks Haunted Graffiti, etc.

Gill Bondy - So Alive [AKA Hayden Stewart of Bedroomer Collective]

Gill Bondy – So Alive [AKA Hayden Stewart of Bedroomer Collective]

Coming in hot just yesterday, the young singer/songwriter has blessed us with a pop ballad that is sure to catch the eye of both producers and listeners alike.

Always chasing that summertime vibe, the song reminds us that better weather and good times are just around the corner (the weather is shit in this corner of the world, currently). Great song. Full support.

Cop that free download:

La+ch – California

I’ve been really into funky anthems, especially of the nostalgic nu-disco vibe type, the homie LA+CH has come forward with another awesome banger of such style:

If you like this song, I also reccomend getting into this jam by Cherokee ft. Gibbz called Teenage Fantasy- can’t get enough of these tunes.

Over and out, #FunkFam

Hozier – Take Me to Church (The Golden Pony Remix)

I’ve been on somewhat of an upbeat-house kick lately; maybe it’s just that energetic sort of pick me up that helps get me through the bitter end of winter – but this song is just obviously pretty damn good.

The Golden Pony are one of those rare production duos that can do no wrong. Checking out their vast array of tasteful pop bootlegging, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had actually re-done a few of my favourite artists, namely Chet Faker.

Check out their newest remix of Hozier – Take me to Church!

If you dug their newest, check out this throwback from a month or so back:

Steph’s Picks

Natasha Kmeto – Prideless (Ryan Wells Remix)

Local fav Ryan Well’s released this killer remix of Natasha Kmeto’s Prideless as part of the Bass Coast Remix Contest. It is by far my favourite entry so far and a track that has been on repeat on my iPod.

Moon Boots – C.Y.S.

French Express artist Moon Boots has been consistently putting out quality tracks over the past few years and his latest is no exception. CYS is a dreamy number that gives me that floaty, carefree feeling when i’m listening. It’s definitely putting me in the mood for summer with its light, fluffy and feel good vibes.

Droog Guest Mix for John Digweed

I’ve been really diggin’ this mix from Droog for the past month or so. Lately I just can’t seem to get enough of the deep, dark vibes. This mix has accompanied me on my journey to work and has helped set the mood for a long night of serving.

Nick’s Picks

Often us bloggers, like DJ’s I’m sure as well, find ourselves on a constant hunt for what’s fresh and new. Lately I’ve been taking a step back however, and peeking into the past library’s of newly discovered artists. Thanks to the many local groups such as IntimateUnderGYou Plus OneGinger62 & Timbre bringing through amazing international talent, I’ve discovered some of my current favourite tracks from DJ TennisTom TragoNora En Pure & Kygo all featured below.

Metronomy – She Wants (Tennis Edit)

Mimi’s Picks

KID SMPL – JA

Seattle’s Kid Smpl delivers a ream worth of intricate, textured layers of contemplative sadness through all his tracks, “Ja” being no exception. Heady, corrosive, yet managing to maintain elegance, ‘noise’ has never been more beautiful. Be sure to visit SKMB on May 11 to catch our interview with Kid Smpl and to stream his EP, Silo Tear.

SEOUL – WHITE MORNING

Montreal’s trio, Seoul, offers crisp, ethereal, salt-of-the-earth freshness, neutralizing any toxicity your ears may have suffered from all that shitty top 40s we’re all subjected to while waiting in line at the store.

A.WARE – YELLOW WATERMELON

Tits and ass, lights and bling – this is your quintessential getting-ready-for-summer-parties tune. Atlanta’s A.ware (from hip hop duo Mach Five) spells the equation of house + rap = parting legs in sundresses.

We’re excited to be collaborating with Future Classics, sharing some of our latest favs with all you lovely people. We will be doing a monthly post series here where you can take a look into some of the sounds that we’ve been diggin’

SKMB on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Soundcloud | Website

Steph’s Picks:

First up is STWO with his remix of JMSN’s  The One. STWO has been on our radar for quite a while now and has been posted on SKMB several times by a few of our contributors. STWO consistently releases quality remixes of some of our favourite hip hop and R&B tracks as well as his own originals, keeping things sultry, soulful and somewhat relaxing.

Next up on my most played this month is Amyn & Kill Frenzy’s Hooked. There’s nothing I love more than the sweet sound of a  pounding, bass-driven  house jam with warehousey vibes that you can’t help but shake your ass to. This dirty bird knows what’s up and has been releasing nothing but gold recently.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/117443466″ params=”color=030404&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Finally, we have Banks, who’s beautiful and almost angelic vocals give me goosebumps everytime I hear them, with her true gift shining through  her poetic perspectives on love, life and humanity. The ever so talented songstress has colabborated with such artists as TEED, SOHN and Lil Silva to name a few. I couldn’t choose my favourite song of hers, so I have included the two that I am constantly listening to.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/109919093″ params=”color=030404&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Nick’s Picks:

After shamelessly shazaming one of their songs during Vancouver house n techno staple DJ Siavash‘s set at Cajmere a few weeks back, I’ve been in love with andhim‘s delightfully dancey, yet minimal style of house music.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/112750743″ params=”color=000000&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

15 seconds into discovering this next track and my roommate and I were shakin our asses in the living room. Rumbling house with a slightly ghetto vibe just really does it for me. If your a house head like myself then it’s likely that you’ve heard this second colab from Marlon Hoffstadt and fellow German producer Dansson. 8 months old and I’m still groovin to both of these. Join me.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/89980525″ params=”color=000000&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Sam’s Picks:

A collaboration between two well known names in B.C.’s music scene Robbie Slade of Humans and Max Ulis have created some real magic under the name Sabota. Smooth textures and baselines will have you hitting replay on any one of their tracks. These guys know how to get the cool kids to dance.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/118696971″ params=”color=030404&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Soul Button while remaining anonymous delivers some of the most soulful house beats I have ever heard. His latest remix of Florain Rietze’s Treibholz track is no exception. A truly groovy track that adds to his already extensive list of brilliant originals and remixes.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/116045894″ params=”color=030404&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
